View presenter infoMatthew Arends is an actuary and Partner in Aon Hewitt 's Retirement and Investment Practice and has over 20 yearsí experience advising boards of corporates and trustees in relation to their DB and DC pension arrangements. He is the lead consultant and relationship manager on a portfolio of clients of a range of sizes, who look to him for his proactive approach to problem solving.
Matthew is one of Aon Hewitt's thought leaders and has a particular interest in the management of pension scheme risk, with emphasis on the operational as well as financial aspects of risk management. Recently, he has been helping corporates diagnose and resolve the pain caused by low yields and low expected asset returns. Matthew is a regular speaker at conferences and, for example, authored "Pension Scheme De-risking - A Practical Guide" and Aon Hewitt's response to the Pensions Tax consultation. Matthew holds a MA in mathematics from Cambridge University, is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and is based in London.
Christopher Clayton has over 30 years of corporate finance experience advising a range of companies on merger and acquisition transactions, fund raising for listed companies and private equity investments. He was Managing Director of Close Brothers Corporate Finance. He spent 9 months on secondment to the Pension Regulator where he took commercial decisions relating to scheme funding and clearance applications. He is now a Professional Trustee for Capital Cranfield Pension Trustees and he is either a chair of trustees or co trustee for defined benefit pension schemes which have assets ranging from £50m to £2.5bn.
Rob is an ACA Chartered Accountant. He trained in PwC’s London Middle Markets before moving to Bristol and a four year stint in Corporate Finance. Rob moved into industry some eight years ago matching his personal interest in design with a role at US lifestyle brand Herman Miller. Rob is now EMEA Finance Director for the NASDAQ listed Herman Miller business. Rob also serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Herman Miller Retirement Fund.
