Rob has also worked in the aerospace team at the UK Government’s Department of Trade and Industry where he managed all aspects of market analysis and forecasting in support of the UK’s investment in a wide range of commercial aircraft and aero-engine programmes. He began his aviation career in 1990 as a Marketing Executive at British Aerospace (Regional Aircraft).

Robert Martin

Robert Martin has more than 30 years of experience in the aircraft finance and leasing business. He joined BOC Aviation in 1998. Over the last 20 years, Robert has led BOC Aviation through a successful expansion programme which has seen the organisation emerge as a consistently profitable and leading player in the global aircraft leasing business. BOC Aviation successfully achieved a public listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on 1 June 2016, and celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2018.

Robert began his career in aircraft financing in London with Bank of America in 1987. He subsequently held senior positions in both London and Singapore with The Long-Term Credit Bank of Japan before moving to HSBC Investment Bank in Hong Kong where he held the position of Aircraft Finance Director. In addition to his role as Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Robert holds a seat on the Board. He is now one of the longest serving CEOs of the same company in the aircraft leasing industry.

He previously spent 20 plus years at a global financial institution where he was Managing Director and Head of Corporate Finance and Treasury; his responsibilities included capital planning, funding, management of liquidity, interest rate and foreign exchange risks, and interfacing with rating agencies and the fixed income investment community.

Firoz previously spent three years at a leading consulting firm in Bombay overseeing a diverse range of management consultancy projects.

James worked with ORIX Aviation from 2002 to 2007 and was Vice President of Acquisitions, New Business and Capital Markets. James spent two years as Managing Director, Head of Marketing and Capital Markets for Aergo Capital Group before returning to ORIX Aviation in 2009. James has also held previous positions as Executive Assistant to Tony Ryan and CFO of TARA Aerospace, along with a senior management role in the aviation team at KBC Aerospace Finance.

He holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree in Banking and Finance from University College Dublin. James was previously elected to the Board of Directors of ISTAT for a four year term from 2015 to 2019 and currently serves as Chairman of the Wings Club Foundation European Chapter.

Bob Morin has been the Managing Director, Transaction and Business Development Leader of the Aircraft Finance Insurance Consortium (AFIC) since its formation in 2017. Prior to that, Bob was the Senior Vice President of Business and Product Development at the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM Bank), and before that the Vice President of EXIM Bank’s Transportation Division for more than 15 years.

Bob was also a member of the US delegation to the OECD that negotiated the Aircraft Sector Understanding, which established the guidelines for all export credits supported aircraft financings. In addition, he was a member of the US delegation responsible for developing and negotiating the Cape Town Treaty on International Interests in Aircraft Equipment.

Prior to joining EXIM Bank, Bob was associated with the law firm of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy in New York. Mr. Morin has degrees from the Columbia University School of Law and the Wharton School of Business and is a certified public accountant.

Francois Collet

Francois started his professional career in the airline industry, working for British Airways technical services in London and then for Air Liberté in Paris as part of the flight operations division where he interfaced closely with pilots and airworthiness authorities. He joined Airbus in June 1995 as Senior Airline Analyst in the Customer Marketing team, based out of Toulouse and then Singapore, covering airline accounts in Europe and then Asia.

Francois joined the Airbus Customer Finance team in 1999 where he took responsibility for the negotiation and implementation of the financing support package with airline accounts in Europe, Africa and Latin America. He then moved to Airbus North America (Virginia) as Director Sales Finance; during such period, he was involved in sales campaigns, in the implementation of delivery financing and bankruptcy proceedings/restructurings of major North American airlines.

Back in Toulouse from 2006, Francois led the team involved in the active management and selling down of the Airbus customer financing exposure. Currently, Francois is Head of Aircraft Investors. One of his main responsibilities is to manage the relationship with the aircraft financing sector and related entities, including appraisers, rating agencies, consultants, investment banks and investors (fixed income, private equity and non-speculative lessors). This also involves generating alternative liquidity solutions and supporting transfer solutions for Airbus customer financing exposure.

In addition to the above responsibilities, Francois is Co-Chairman of the Aviation Working Group, entity representing the aviation financing sector and contributing to the development of laws, regulations and more efficient ways of trading to enhance aviation financing and leasing.

Daniel Da Silva

Daniel da Silva is vice president of Strategic Regulatory Policy for Boeing Capital Corporation (BCC), a wholly-owned Boeing subsidiary that is primarily responsible for arranging, structuring and providing financing for Boeing airplanes and products. He also serves as the co-Chairman of the Aviation Working Group (AWG), a not- for-profit industry organization dedicated to improving the global regulatory environment for aviation finance and aircraft trading.

Previously, da Silva was vice president of Modification and Conversion Services for Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Prior to this assignment, he led Freighter Conversions for three years.

Da Silva also served as vice president of Global Sales and Marketing for Boeing’s commercial services division. He has also held the positions of vice president of Customer Support for Europe, based in Brussels, Belgium, and vice president of Sales for Latin America and Caribbean, in charge of sales of Boeing aircraft in that region.

A native of Brazil, da Silva has extensive experience in engineering, sales, marketing and aircraft finance in commercial aviation. He began his career as a flight test engineer for Embraer. Within a year he moved to marketing as a sales engineer. He joined Douglas Aircraft Company in 1990 as a sales engineer. In 1993, he was named regional director of marketing and became director of sales a year later. He joined Boeing as a sales director for Latin America in 1997, following the Boeing-McDonnell Douglas merger.

Da Silva received his aeronautical engineering degree in 1989 from the ITA Technological Institute of Aeronautics and has completed programs focused on finance, strategy and leadership from the American Management Association and MIT Sloan School of Management. Born in Paris, da Silva grew up in São José dos Campos, Brazil.

Jonathan joined Marsh in Paris in 2017 as Structured Credit Leader and was appointed Head of Political Risks, Structured Credit & Surety in 2018. Jonathan is the Global Balthazar Financing Leader. Jonathan graduated from Neoma Business School and Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.

Martin Browne

Martin joined Aergo Capital in 2014, during the transition period after the acquisition of the company by funds managed by CarVal Investors. Having worked closely with the technical and finance department evaluating aircraft transactions, Martin has since progressed to become a key member of the company’s marketing team, working initially on projects in the Middle East and Africa alongside the Chief Commercial Officer, to now leading all deal origination and aircraft remarketing in Europe, Middle East and Africa as VP Marketing for the region.

In addition to his origination role, Martin has played a key role in transitioning Aergo’s marketing efforts toward a technology driven approach – converting a largely ‘offline’ commercial information system into a proprietary cloud-based custom database.

Martin is also a member on the organising committee for the Airball – an annual charity ball attended by the aviation community that has raised in excess of €160,000 in net proceeds for the Darndale Belcamp Integrated Childcare Service (Jigsaw Centre) since 2015.

Prior to starting his professional career, Martin completed his MSc. in Economics at Imperial College London, where he graduated with merit. He also holds a B.A. in Economics and Business from Trinity College, Dublin.

Mike Poon

Mike is an entrepreneur and pioneer within the aviation sector in China. Having founded China’s first operating lessor CALC in 2006, which has developed into an aircraft full life-cycle solutions provider for the global aviation industry, he is responsible for formulating the group’s overall strategic planning and managing overall business operations. Mike is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Aircraft Recycling International Limited, Asia’s first mid-to-end of life aircraft solutions provider and largest recycling facilities operator. Mike is also the founder and Chairman of Friedmann Pacific Asset Management Limited, an investment company that focuses on aviation ventures. He established China Airport Synergy Investment Limited (“CASIL”) in 2014, to lead the acquisition of a 49.99% stake in Toulouse-Blagnac Airport, the largest airport in southwestern France. Mike obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the University of Hong Kong and an Executive Master’s degree in Business Administration from Tsinghua University. He is a CFA charterholder of the Chartered Financial Analysts Institute, and Founding Chief Advisor of the Hong Kong Aircraft Leasing and Aviation Finance Association.

Khanh T. Tran

Khanh Tran became Chief Executive Officer of Aviation Capital Group (ACG) on January 1, 2016. Prior to assuming leadership of ACG, he was president of Pacific Life with responsibility for its asset management, corporate development, corporate financial, and investment management groups. Khanh joined Pacific Life in 1990 as Treasurer and was promoted to Vice President and Treasurer in 1991. In 1995, Khanh was named Vice President of Corporate Development and Treasurer. He was promoted to Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in June 1996 and elected to the board of directors of Pacific Life Insurance Company in August 1997. Khanh was appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in April 2001, and also became the Chief Investment Officer for Pacific Life in January 2011. He was named President of Pacific Life in 2012.

Khanh began his career with United California Bank, followed by Flying Tiger Line, Inc., then the world’s largest global air freight company and was with The Vons Companies, Inc., a supermarket chain in Southern California that was a KKR leverage buyout portfolio company, prior to joining Pacific Life.

John Meakin is Managing Director and Global Head of ECA Aircraft Finance for J.P. Morgan with over 20 years’ experience in aircraft financing. In his current role, he leads a team of bankers advising and helping airlines and aircraft manufacturers with their financing needs. He is a leader in the field and has worked with most of the world’s major airlines, financing approximately 300 aircraft from Boeing and Airbus with Exim and European ECA support. John is a regular speaker and moderator at international conferences specialising on both ECAs and developments of capital markets funding.
